Within the warm winter campaign 2023-2024, “Humanity First… Their Hope is Warmth,” the Qatar Red Crescent office in Yemen implemented a winter package project to meet the needs of 6,000 families from the most vulnerable groups in the governorates of Sana’a, Taiz, Ma’rib, Ibb, and Al-Dhalea, at a cost of 274,466 US dollars (i.e. Equivalent to 1,000,428 Qatari riyals).
The project included the distribution of winter supplies in two phases. The first included the distribution of 2,700 winter bags containing blankets and mattresses, and the second included the distribution of winter clothing for the benefit of 3,300 children. Each clothing included a sweater, jacket, trousers, socks, and a woolen scarf.
During the inauguration ceremony in Ma’rib Governorate, Ali Al-Marqat, Shelter Sector Officer in the Executive Unit for the Displaced Persons in the governorate, said: “Today we are inaugurating the distribution of 1,000 winter bags provided by the Qatar Red Crescent.
This aid will be delivered to the needy displaced brothers in the Al-Wadi and Al-Madina districts, and will cover part of the winter needs of the poor in the governorate.”
He added: “Ma’rib, as is known to everyone, is a desert governorate in which the temperature drops very significantly during the winter, and it includes approximately 2.2 million displaced people, and it needs support with more projects and humanitarian aid in food, medicine, and shelter. We urge the brothers in the Qatari Red Crescent to provide More aid to the governorate, as it bears the burden of 70% of the displaced throughout the Republic of Yemen.”
