Hajj to the Sacred House of God is one of the pillars of Islam, according to God Almighty’s saying, “And God has responsibility over the people to perform Hajj to the House, whoever is able to make a way to it,” and his saying, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him: “Islam is built on five things: testifying that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God, establishing prayer, paying zakat, and fasting during Ramadan.” And the Hajj to the House is performed by whoever is able to make it.) It was made obligatory in the ninth year of the Hijra.
